I am what you call a take on anything type of person. I will grab any project, even if I only slightly know some of it and run with it. I’ll learn whatever I need to in order to get the project done, I think many people are like that nowadays. In fact, I think a vast majority are, simple reason, things are always in flux and we need to adapt and learn new things constantly, it’s what I love about what I do. My next few posts will be about some of these projects I took on and got involved in, highlight some of my clients and just talk about what I worked on, challenenges, etc. First up is a coffee table book called, Revenge of the Cheesesteak. I know, the title alone just grabs you, trust me when I tell you, it was an interesting book to work on, lots of imagery and layout to be done.

I had worked on a couple of coffee table books, but it was quite some time ago, so it was almost as if I was learning to do it all over again. Beyond the coffee table book, I also designed the hard cover version and the eBook versions, so InDesign and me became great friends I tell you. The best part about the project was the fact the author was open to any and all layout suggestions, he pretty much went with what I had suggested with wanting a few changes here and there. To top it off I facilitated all of the printing of both print versions and handled the communication between the author, me and the printer, made for all kinds of interesting conversations. For the HC we used LSI, that’s all I’ll say about that, it became a nightmare from hell with them, that’s for another post probably. For the coffee table version, we used Bookmasters, and that was a great experience, I now also use IngramSpark for clients with POD also, nice to have options.
