Widgets & Enhancements

There are a variety of tools out there that I use when working with clients. Everything from Inkling, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, lot of Adobe products, but also scripts, apps & online tools. One I have been playing with more and more, some for clients others as a showcase of possibilities is iBooks Author. iBooks Author is like any other software, has all kinds of bells and whistles, but for me and many others I know, it’s not just about the built in options, but how we can add to it, edit, tweak or make it better and in much respect our own.

One thing I like a lot about iBA is that you can add .wdgt to the eBook you are creating pretty much anywhere. Since Apple announced iBooks Author, options to add enhancements has steadily grown. Bookry is one option, what you create with them is branded with their name unless you choose to purchase it, not bad, some nice options. Tumult Hype is another option, Edge Animate from Adobe is another and iAD Producer is another. Out of all of them, I have to say, I like Edge Animate and iAD producer the best. The reasons are that the exports from both I have found to be clean and easy to work with. Also, finding that Edge Animate produces a nice file for epub3 and iBooks Author while iAD producer is best suited for iBooks Author.

Will get some examples up either in epub files to show or iBA test file to share shortly. Chime in though, what have you found to be better for enhancements or what do you like better?
